Machin Family | In-Home Newborn

Late in my pregnancy, I sat on my couch with another pregnant mama who would be the doula assisting my birth, Heidi. We talked through my birth plan, she showed Skyller how to apply counter pressure, and I asked a million questions. I think I speak for all of Heidi’s doula clients when I say my birth experience would have been radically different without her there.

About 6 months later, we sat together on a couch again. This time it was Heidi’s and this time we had our babies in our arms instead of in our bellies. We nursed our sweet littles and talked about Heidi’s birth story, fresh in her mind after just 13 days, and about motherhood. Heidi and her husband had been gracious enough to have Will along to their session, who kicked around on a blanket on the floor while I snapped their photos.

This session started with five-year-old big brother taking me by the hand to show me all the dinosaurs in his bedroom and ended with two moms on the couch. Needless to say, it was a sweet one.

Soon-to-be moms and already-moms with a little sibling on the way, it would be my honor to capture these memories for you. You won’t regret having these moments, those little toes, that new love frozen in time.
